But! Can you imagine the amount of time and effort that went into building mega-dalek?

That's pretty awesome. That would look great in my apartment. Nevermind that the ceiling isn't tall enough. Minor detail.

I actually went to go and see that - it's even more impressive in person, since the head actually turns, lights up and it shouts exterminate.

The place that made it has a tradition of doing large straw sculptures; they've been doing them for over 10 years, despite the fact that the business is actually all about making ice cream http://www.snugburys.co.uk/content/sculptures

That makes it even more awesome. I bet it was pretty cool to see.
