Federation News Service, Biff Buffington reporting.
FNS has uncovered information about the possibility of a clandestine base at earth's northern polar region. Unnamed sources in Starfleet Intelligence indicated that satellites picked up pictures of a factory near the north pole. What is being manufactured there has yet to be discovered.
Initial reports seem to indicate that the facility is guarded and maintained by mutant Vulcans, only 3 feet tall. The Vulcan ministry vehemently denied their government's involvement in any such operation. One Vulcan, who shall remain anonymous, *cough*Spock *cough* theorized that there could be Romulan involvement. The Romulans denied the accusation and immediately called for an apology from the President of the Federation. One Tal'Shiar remarked that the Romulans would never let such mutants to live let alone participate in any clandestine mission.
Further images showed an older human, dressed in a red uniform, getting in some sort of personal craft, carrying wrapped packages. It is unknown what was in the packages. The pilot had some sort of list of names that he checked at least twice. Starfleet Security tried to hack the list, but were un-successful. They have remained on high alert.
When the craft took off, it was flying at speeds past warp 10. It seemed to be powered by nine reindeer, one who had a very shiny nose. One Intelligence officer indicated that if one were to see it, that they would agree that it glowed. Federation scientists have indicated that it would be impossible for reindeer to pull a sled of that size, let alone fly it. They indicated that it must be some sort of illusion caused by the speed of the craft. They are naming the engine type of the craft a rangifur tarnadus drive, after the scientific name of reindeer.
Starfleet Command has indicated that they are working around the clock to try to figure out what is behind all this. Some safety tips they recommend are, making sure everyone is in at night, turn the lights off early, make sure that should you have an antique house with a chimney, block it off. Others in Security and Intelligence are recommending other measures such as distractions, carefully put stockings in places and perhaps even leave food out to delay any intruders.
This is Biff Buffington, ace reporter, Federation News Service, signing off.
