So I was flicking through pages on the internet today, and came across this table on Reddit:

The LtJG one I think can be dismissed, since the only person they have in that column is Bashir who looks to have been a very late entrant (or perhaps went into active service a few years later due to extra training medical officers would probably have to go through after the standard Academy training), but the rest of the table I think is quite useful for figuring out the age and likely ranks of characters. Does anyone else have anything similar that they use when writing their characters or determining promotions for their crews?
Starfleet Average Promotion Rates
Re: Starfleet Average Promotion Rates
I have a fractal perspective on ranks and age.
Minimum Captain age 51? - I guess that rules out the Pikes & Kirks.
I'm not allergic to fleet captains being 35 years old.
Yet, I've been in simms where the Chief Doctor is in early 20's.
Medical school? Internship? Seniority? What education pill did they swallow?
Again, I think 35 is a palatable age for CMO on the low end.
Redshirts? Oh heck, here's your phaser. Go stand over there or beam down with us and walk around.
The easiest solution to enjoy the best of both worlds is to run characters who enjoy longer youth curves. Eugenics, non-human species, there are ways to do it.
