Revitalizing the Forums
Forums are a great tool when properly utilized. In a game with so many players spanned across the globe, it is the one sure fired way to let players from all time zones interact. Lately, though, our forums haven't been seeing much foot traffic. What would you, as players, like to see in the forums? What would get you motivated to post in the forums again? If we can get posting in the forums going and players interacting again, this will hugely benefit the fleet and further our goal of being a truly interactive gaming community. Share and be heard!
Re: Revitalizing the Forums
PURPLE!
We need more purple!
But seriously, I think just having people post... helps other people post ;o)
Start up posts about one thing or another. Go classic with 'Who's your favorite chaarcter and why?' Or other such posts we've seen three thousand times and yet still feel the need to respond to with great passion.
And if you have better ideas, do so!
I'm a lurker by nature. Spent half my teen years with a group of people, only to have some of them come to me to ask my name several months in ;o)
But I'm willing to try and shell out some conversations if it can help. Just don't expect me to start them ;o)

Re: Revitalizing the Forums
Purple is pretty valid.
I agree that starting threads again will help, but we also need to point towards the forums again. That's the cog that's stuck for me.

Re: Revitalizing the Forums
Ask Captains to remind their writers/players that these forums exist and that we can be fun?
Offer a tapdancing contest?
Talk about it on social media?

Did someone say purple?
GVLB has been purplified!
Yeah... anyway...
Posting threads is going to help, yeah. I've just sent out an email to the COs with a monthly update, in which I asked them to remind their crews about the forums, and I'll be doing the same with my crew shortly too

Re: Revitalizing the Forums
It's fairly simple to add a link to the Pegasus Fleet forums on the top menu bar of a Nova site.
Maybe encourage more COs to do this, so new people who are inexperienced with writing in Fleets can find it?
It'll also help with cross fleet recruiting because new to the fleet players will be made aware of other sims in the Fleet.

Re: Revitalizing the Forums
Asking COs to do that would be a good idea.
Re: Revitalizing the Forums
As another idea, a lot of newer players wanting to start their own sims may have trouble finding reliable hosting, and even more trouble finding SQL server hosts that tolerate the way Nova wants to look at databases.
Perhaps a thread can be created to showcase free, and paid hosting that is known to be Nova safe?
Users could also leave non-bullying commentary on the web host, like how fast their customer service response usually is, and whether or not their 404 error pages default send your browser to Asian porn sites.

Re: Revitalizing the Forums
That's not a bad idea, but Pegasus Fleet does offer web hosting on our servers. There's an application for that under Apply. COs aren't required to host their sim on our server, but the option is there.
