All,
Until I get a chance to enact some new permanent anti-spam measures, I've set the board to require manual admin approval for all new accounts on the forum. Any genuine user who registers on the forum, please send an additional email to webmaster[at]pegasusfleet[dot]net with your username for it to be activated.
Fleet staff; if you know of anyone who joins up but needs this access but hasn't emailed the above address, please notify myself or Terris and we'll get the person sorted.
Temporary Anti-Spam Measures
Re: Temporary Anti-Spam Measures
I'm sorry, but I can't help but be amused that there was a spam reply to the anti-spam message.

Gotta admit, that's pretty funny.

Re: Temporary Anti-Spam Measures
I think a form should be created on the IFS page that allows users to submit a forum account request that goes directly to the above email.

Temporary Anti-Spam Measures
This is only a temporary measure - once I've reviewed and updated our spam measures, then I'll revert the activation back to being done by the user rather than admin

Re: Temporary Anti-Spam Measures
Our current anti-spam measures have been improved with a wider range of more complex questions than previously, in line with the current measures that we have working on the wiki (though the questions will at some point in the future need altering again to maintain their effectiveness). As we don't appear to have had any spambot registrations over the last five hours since the tweaks were made, I'm going to return the user activation settings to user-authorised rather than manually by the admins.
