Website Year for Simm

Post by Travis » Sun Jan 24, 2016 4:00 am

"Welcome to Pegasus Fleet - home of the 11th Fleet.

We are all about fun, inclusive online roleplay and we are accepting new players all the time. Whether you're looking to command your own starship or get grimy as a non-commissioned engineer, we've got a position to suit you.

Even if you've never 'simmed' before, we can help you out. New players are welcome to use our Academy training courses to learn the ropes and help you get started on your new ship.

So don't hesitate. The year is 2391, Galactic South is still a wild frontier. Take your station and seek out new life and new civilisations.

Check out the links below to help you find the right game for you."

Notice anything? The 2391? Yeah, I didn't either, hahaha. But I was wondering if this needed to be updated. Further, shouldn't we be in 2393 by now? Just asking. :)

Yup, that needs to be changed :P

We're in 2392 now - we work a system where for every two years that pass in real life, one sim year goes by, so we'll be in 2392 for this year and for 2017

We don't require that sims stick rigidly to the fleet timeline, just so long as they're in the general ball-park. I know that the Highlander at the minute is currently around October 2391 (as is the current plot of our Task Force Story Arc, depending on where within it those sims taking part are). Sims tend to move at a much slower pace than real time does, which is part of why we slowed down the IC time progression in the fleet, but that tends to mean that whatever the date of the fleet is, nobody is really going to be perfectly matched up to it for more than a day or so.

Alright, cool. Yeah, I'm planning a three-month long mission here, and I want it to collaborate loosely with real time. Right now we're in as far as December 11th of 2392. I just wanted to make sure I had that leeway to enter 2393 without too much variance. Thank you very much, William.
