1st Novel

After tons of hard work and even harder editing, I am happy to announced the (self) publishment of my first novel.

Synopsis:
Solar flares have knocked out radio transmissions. Rookie cop Billy McConnell is transporting a very ill mental patient who claims that space aliens are after her. The words of this suffering patient prick his sense of guilt. Her eyes touch his soul. But more serious, they are indeed being hunted. Cut off from support, McConnell must sort out trauma from truth, personal feelings from regulations.

Thankye, Sir. It's been a learning experience.
I've got several more that need to get out of the mind and onto e-paper.

Right now, it's available in several different eBook formats, including a .pdf file.

I'm still in-process with CreateSpace getting it into paperback format.
Should be no longer than a couple of weeks, I hope.

Not so good, Alex.

Please somebody tell me that I'm not that bad of a writer? If I am, then truly I must have made PF sims miserable and people have pitied me too much to speak up.

I haven't read any of your work yet, but I could write a page or two about why being a great simmer has little to nothing to do with being a novel writer. And I could write at least as much about how a review says at least as much about the reviewer and expectations as it does about the product.

In short form:
1) Don't let a bad review get to you. Not even Harry Potter is universally appreciated. There will ALWAYS be people out there giving bad reviews, because you can't please everyone.
2) You're clearly an established and respected person in PF, which to me says you're a good simmer and have made the sims you're part of better through your participation. That's a more important accomplishment and sign of quality than the sales numbers or reviews of anything else you do.

Also added your book to my ever-increasing reading list. I should really read more so I get to tick some books off that list... >.<

Thank you, haf.

I guess my concerns arise from past sim experiences. Some folks didn't like directions that I took, but they never came to me about it. So, I just dewty-dewty-doo kept on with my merry business blissfully unaware. Can't improve if nobody points out problems. That isn't to say that we might just have to end up agreeing to disagree, but many times I've been amenable to rewrites.

Character development, plot cohesiveness, sentence structure & smoothness, story pace, realism, originality, reader empathy, etc. It's helpful to hear WHY people have problems. Dunno where to focus more attention, otherwise.
