Type 17 Shuttlepod

Category: Shuttle

Time Between Resupply: 0 years
Time Between Refit: 0 years

Crew: 2
Maximum (Evacuation) Capacity: 2

Speed
Cruising Velocity: Warp 1
Maximum Velocity: Warp 1.2
Emergency Velocity: Warp 2 (for 12 hours)

Dimensions
Length: 5.5m
Width: 4.1m
Height: 2.3m
Decks: 1

Armament

Defensive Systems
Structural Integrity Field

Hand Phasers
Type I: 2
Type II: 2

Phasers
Type V Array: 2

Shielding Systems
Light Shielding System

Description
The Type 17 Shuttlepod came into limited service in the mid 2360's. Designed as a faster and more manoeuvrable counterpart to the Type 15 and 16 shuttlepods, the cost of manufacturing the craft was too high when compared to the cheaper, less capable Type 15's. The small craft's potential was re-examined in the early 2380's however when design flaws in the warp capabilities of the aging Type 16 were discovered following a series of accidents. The need for new warp capable shuttlepods was apparent because the Type 15's were also starting to reach the limits of their usefulness, so the Type 17 program was reinstated and production of an improved version of the class resumed.

I'd take the emergency evac to 4... otherwise it looks good.

Having seen the model of Sternbachs design and some blueprints, the maximum amount of people it can carry is 4 people, 2 crew + 2 passengers. Evac amounts are supposed to be the number of people that can be safely carried aboard in the short term plus the standard crew compliment.

all the figures currently in the database currently are total people, not additional people.

Fair enough. Not a fan of that, but okay.

Which ship classes, other than the Sentinel, will this shuttlepod likely be making an appearance on?

Well I'd like to phase out the type 15 in favor of the 17's because I feel it's a much better design. (The Type 15/16 always reminds me of those coin operated rides for toddlers that you find in shopping malls etc). All vessels capable of supporting auxiliary craft should by rights carry a shuttlepod type anyway as they can sometimes reach places where shuttlecraft can't because of their size.

Hi everything looks really good. I only have one question though, what ships will be getting the shuttlepods? Are they going on all class ships or a few?
