For an escort vessel...that's going remarkably quickly.

Also I know that it is supposed to be a a 'heavy escort', but that armament isn't far off an excalibur class in fact in some respects, it's more heavily armed considering the size of the vessel.

The langston has 1 torpedo for every 69360 cubic meters. That's quantum and photon...

The Diligent would have 1 torpedo for every 6289 cubic meters. Again quantum and photon. Something seems...out.

Then you have the type 11 arrays...11 of em... now as far as I'm aware, these beasts not only pack a punch but they're also quite weighty and I have to wonder whether they could pack this amount of power considering the size of the ship and its other compliments.

Could you show us the design blue prints, because I'm not sure the ship can hold a type 11 with a type 10... type 11's are pretty...hefty. I mean, even an Intrepid class doesn't have any of these.

For that matter... we don't have an escort category...

Since there's limited similar vessels, I'm comparing to the http://ifs.pegasusfleet.net/index.php?o ... &sclass=35 norway class.

A couple of notes in response. First, you're absolutely correct that we don't have an escort category. I apparently forgot the categories that I made up, which is really bad considering that I was in there looking at similar ships. The category should be Corvette, which it should now correctly read.

I mostly used the Sentinal class as inspiration since it is a similar size and function. I also used some information from the original ship specs from before the sim transferred to PF, though they were modified and not copied. Regarding the size of the Type XI arrays, I honestly don't know how "big" the systems are going to be. If someone has a reliable source that explains that information, I'd be happy to check it out. I'd be willing to trade off some of the Type XI's with Type X's if you think that would be more reasonable. I'm also not set on the number of torpedoes, but take a look at the Defiant class specs: http://ifs.pegasusfleet.net/index.php?o ... &sclass=19. It has far more torpedoes per volume than the Diligent.

Also, the Intrepid Class, while being a larger ship, is an explorer. It is not meant for heavy combat roles like the Defiant and Diligent. It doesn't need to take up space for heavier weapons, just like these other ships don't need to take up space with science labs.

=P

The Sentinal class...I'll be going and having a look at that shortly then. I would be much happier if a few Type X's were swapped in. As far as I'm aware... phaser arrays are...in canon, (http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Phaser_array) similar to 'processors' in that as time develops, emitters get smaller and more numerous.

Now, type X were (are/should be/TNG Canon) standard on the Galaxy class, which would mean that they are large enough to take full advantage of the power supply but also very bulky. Military technology, always the same. Very bulky for quite a few years.

Thus Type XI's on a dilligent seems a bit...preposterous. Given the size and the power supply that is.

As for the torpedoes you're right, 1 per 5000m3, that's pretty, hefty considering I was complaining at at 1 for every 6000 -.-; However as far as I'm aware DS9 was basically using that as an 'assault' vessel rather than an escort, although it had been used as such. Which brings me onto the Intrepid class, your point is definitely a given, it is an explorer and yes the weighting can be moved a little, but 1/6000 still seems a bit.. extreme. Especially for a vessel of that size. (In fact it's just extreme anyway).

But yes, I'll now start looking at the Corvettes =P

About that crew compliment...

It's a small ship. Do you really think there's space(or an especial need) for a marine squad?

Just curious. It seems like a waste of space on such a small ship.(After all, they get their own special training room, and stuff. Unless you intend to shove them in a broom closet, you're using up potentially non-existant space.)

Hm, there's definitely a point there. How about getting the marines to...double up on some of the 'enlisted' roles. They should be at least 'that' capable right? It also means you can take out some of the enlisted and convert a bit of space while not dramatically affecting the ships flexibility.

What does the ship look like? That might help some. And also, it is a bit small for Marines. Just a bit. :P
