Resupply cycle of 1 year? I would imagine that Starfleet would have designed a ship as versatile as the Sovereign-class is meant to be to be able to stay out in the field on longer missions in a crunch.

Waverider shuttle? Isn't that the one supposed to be docked to the underside of saucer sections for ships like the Nova-class? Aside from that, does a non-warp capable, purely scientific survey ship have place on a ship that, while versatile, was primarily designed with the Borg in mind?

The ship has two sickbays - one on deck 16, and the other on deck 7, not deck 8. From memory alpha: "One large sickbay facility, located on Deck 7, served as the primary care facility on Sovereign-class starships."

The ship has an auxiliary bridge. From memory alpha: "Decks 15 through 18 comprised the main navigational deflector array and an auxiliary bridge, which was also known as the battle bridge."

Otherwise, I'd say it's looking fine :)

Oh, also forgot to mention; for a ship designed so much with battle in mind, and with its size, (though I won't be using them), wouldn't it have some marines?

It's an explorer. Since R&D and the crew has pretty much established that a Long Range Explorer does not carry marines, and this being a long range explorer, we don't have much in the way to say: "all but this one."

Unless you want to call this a battle cruiser.

I second the marines.... to me, the Sovereign just represents the next generation Galaxy Class... It is a large ship, very deadly and capable of long-range travel... To me, science seemed to take a back-seat on the Sovereign...

The sovereign is after all a capitol ship, it'd lead forces, it was a flagship... Carrying ground-pounders for ship-to-ship and surface combat seems to make sense to me...

This Fleet's Galaxy Class also is an Explorer-type...

And also doesn't carry Marines.

Explorers are meant to be multi-role ships, that is, General Purpose, and are not meant primarily as warships. They also (mostly) allow for families to be aboard, have specific amenities for children. While we've been given to accept that marines are part of our little version of the Star Trek universe, they have their places. Some Fleets put marines on everything, some put fighters on everything. In the series, the main ships were all explorers, and showed neither marines nor fighters aboard, so we work from the assumption that explorers don't carry marines or fighters.

I'm fine with that. As I said, I wouldn't be using the marines anyway even if I did have them :P Just wanted to mention it.
