Monthly Update - February 2019

Post by Alex » Sat Feb 09, 2019 5:44 am

Hello everyone!

We’ve started the year off on a good foot. There’s still a lot for us to build upon, but in the past month we’ve gained several new members, seen the return of a couple of old faces, and have been preparing to joint host a new simming event with Bravo and Obsidian Fleets. Our Discord server has been quite active as well. It’s great to see so much activity in our community.

As many of you have probably already noticed, we do have a couple of new commanding officers joining us this month. First is Commander Bjorn Tyrson of the Intrepid-class USS Valhalla. Commander Tyrson is no stranger to the fleet, and we’re glad to have him back for more adventures. Our second new CO may be new to the fleet, but is not new to the command chair. Please welcome Commander Zemta Kriv of the Sovereign-class USS Emar. Welcome, both of you!

The Fleet Ops department is also excited to announce that we have selected a new Task Force Commanding Officer for TF56. Please welcome Captain Ovik, aka @Chris, to the Fleet Staff. In addition to currently serving as Commander Greener of the USS Sinnan, Chris has served as a TFCO in Pegasus Fleet once before, and brings with him a lot of experience in this role. I know he’s ready to get to work, and we’re excited to be working with him. Congratulations, Captain!

As a reminder, we are still accepting applications for the Director of Resources. The PFA will begin reviewing applications on Monday, February 11, so there are only a few days left to get your application in if you want to be in the first group considered. The ideal candidate is someone with strong writing ability, attention to detail, active imagination, and a decent understanding of the technology of Star Trek. With any staff position, strong communication skills are key. Interested members of the Fleet may apply for the position via the link below. Applicants will be required to submit examples of their work as part of the application process. For the ship class assignment, we are looking for a set of specifications for the Ares-class Tactical Strike Cruiser. The specifications should follow the format shown on the Pegasus Fleet website under Ship Specifications. Additionally candidates must provide an article about an original race of their creation.

The last big announcement this month is a reminder about the upcoming Project Khitomer conference. This joint conference is open to all members of the greater simming community, and will be hosted by Pegasus, Bravo, and Obsidian Fleets. The conference will be held on Saturday, February 23, and starting at 3pm GMT/10am EST. There will be another announcement closer to the conference date with information on the schedule of events and an invite to the conference’s Discord server. There are still a few panel spots remaining if anyone is interested in hosting. The signup sheet can be found here. If anyone is interested in hosting any of these panels and/or workshops, please send me a message as soon as possible. Project Khitomer has been gathering a lot of excitement in the greater simming community since it was announced last month, and this is a great opportunity for Pegasus Fleet to show off our community. I encourage everyone to try to attend at least some portion of the events. Several members of Pegasus Fleet have signed up to lead discussions and workshops, so please join us to support them and the other panel hosts. I know I’m really looking forward to the event, and I hope that each of you are as well!

This month’s meeting will be held in the #meeting channel on Discord this Sunday, February 10. It will start at 3:00 pm EST. The meeting is open to all members of Pegasus Fleet and any guests that may be interested in learning more about our community. The next meeting will be on Sunday, March 10.

As always, Live Long and Prosper
Alex
