Monthly Update - November 2019

Post by Alex » Sat Nov 09, 2019 3:27 am

Hello everyone!

I’d like to start this month’s update off by thanking everyone for making our 10th Anniversary Celebration a success! For those who weren’t able to make it, we started the celebration with a look back at the history of Pegasus Fleet, continued by looking forward to the Fleet’s future, and then by sharing stories about our time in the Fleet. We concluded the event with a live roleplay session, led by former CFOps Rear Admiral Rhimer (Retired). The live session started as a formal party on Cestus III, celebrating five years of (in character) service for the Eleventh Fleet. Suddenly some visitors from the future appeared, adding some excitement to the party. A few attendees were taken to the future where they learned a haunting tale about the fate of the Federation. Meanwhile, the remaining guests discussed ideas on how to retrieve the missing members, shortly before they were returned. Although the event was not canon to the main Fleet timeline, it was a fun opportunity for characters who normally wouldn’t interact to sim together. The session seemed to be a hit, and we may look into some other similar sessions in the future.

This past month also saw the addition of two new commanding officers along with two returning commanding officers for four new sims! Please welcome Commander Thomas Kenway of the Constitution-class USS Cygnus and Commander Reza Rashid of the Prometheus-class USS Rutupiae. Returning to Pegasus Fleet in October is Commander Westley Anders of the Intrepid-class USS McAuliffe and Captain Solan Jekkar of the Sovereign-class USS Oracle. Welcome and welcome back to all of our new commanding officers!

This month I'd also like to give a huge congratulations to one of our commanding officers and Pegasus Fleet Executive Officer, Vice Admiral S'iraa. As Captain William Hood, he has led the USS Dreadnought sim for fourteen years, which celebrated its birthday on November 7. Along with Captain Hood, five other members of his crew; Mark Bawden, Jack Frost, Zan Luthar, Xavier Patrovski, and Ayla Bawden; have been with the sim since the beginning. That kind of longevity deserves to be recognized, and so each of them will be granted the Meritorious Service Award. This new award will be given to players who have surpassed 10 years of consecutive service on a single sim.

In recognition of Captain Hood's accomplishment, on behalf of the Pegasus Fleet Admiralty I hereby promote him to Fleet Captain. Congratulations to Fleet Captain Hood and the USS Dreadnought for their impressive run so far, and for many more years to come!

As a reminder to everyone, the position of Task Force 56 Commanding Officer is still open. If anyone is interested in applying for the position, please use the link below and submit an application.

Finally, I’d like to remind everyone about FallFest IX, which will be held tomorrow, November 9. This year’s FallFest is hosted by 22nd Fleet. FallFest is an annual roleplaying convention put on by Ongoing Worlds, and covers all genres of online roleplaying. If you are available tomorrow I highly encourage you to join the event. It is a great opportunity to represent Pegasus Fleet in the greater roleplaying community, and a fantastic opportunity to meet other simmers and roleplayers. There will be several panels covering many different topics. For more information on FallFest as well as a schedule of events, you can check out the FallFest IX website here.

FallFest will be held on Discord. You can join the FallFest server by following this link.

This month’s meeting will be held in the #meeting channel on Discord this Sunday, November 10 at 3:00 pm EST / 8:00 pm GMT. The meeting is open to all members of Pegasus Fleet and any guests that may be interested in learning more about our community. The next meeting will be on Sunday, December 8.

As always, Live Long and Prosper
Alex
