For most of us now we’re on our third month of social distancing and quarantines, but there are signs of life returning to “normal”, or at least as close to normal as we may get. Hopefully everyone out there is staying healthy and safe.
Our announcements this month are mostly personnel based. First off, Commander Tharia sh’Elas has stepped down as TFCO of Task Force 56 to pursue other projects elsewhere. Although he was only TFCO for a short time, in the months prior he contributed much to other areas of the Fleet, including assisting with the development of a new story arc and helping the Resource department. We wish him well on his new projects.
With Kai’s departure from TF56CO, that does open the position for applications. The PFA has decided to wait on accepting applications for reasons that I’ll explain below.
As most of you saw from last month, Rear Admiral Kelly, aka @Viceroy Flailer Zerin, has elected to step down from his position as Chief of Fleet Operations in order to focus on some real life projects outside of simming.
Zerin has this to say to the Fleet:
“I want to thank everyone for their support while I was Chief of Fleet Operations. While not the longest stint, I am humbled that I was chosen for the position, and have enjoyed the help and camaraderie from everyone. Even though I will be stepping down, I will still be around the fleet. My days of flailing are not over yet.”
I’d like to thank Zerin once again for everything that he has done for Pegasus Fleet, and we wish him the best with his new endeavors.
With Zerin’s departure from the PFA, we announced that applications were open for our next Chief of Fleet Operations. After reviewing applications from several strong candidates, we ultimately decided that the best person for the job was already a member of the PFA. It’s someone who has spent many tireless nights working closely with the commanding officers and other members of our community, helping them with website problems and just lending a friendly ear. It’s someone who has shown a strong passion for supporting our COs and making sure they have the tools they need to succeed at their disposal. And it’s someone who has just been a fixture in our chat room and community since joining a year ago.
Please join me in congratulating @Amethyst, aka Rear Admiral Niamh Devane, on her new position as Chief of Fleet Operations!
With her new position, Admiral Devane will be vacating her previous role as Academy Commandant. Applications have been opened for this position, and the PFA will begin reviewing the applications this weekend. We will make a formal announcement once a decision has been reached on our next Academy Commandant. To avoid additional complexity in the application process, we will hold off on accepting TF56 applications until a decision has been made on Academy Commandant. Interested candidates should stay tuned for further announcements.
This month’s meeting will be held in the #meeting channel on Discord this Sunday, June 14 at 3:00 pm EDT / 8:00 pm BST. The meeting is open to all members of Pegasus Fleet and any guests that may be interested in learning more about our community. The next meeting will be on Sunday, July 12.
As always, Live Long and Prosper
