Monthly Update - August 2020

Hello everyone!
I hope everyone is having a good August so far. For those of us in the US, we now have a new animated Star Trek to enjoy. I hope those of you who were able to see it have had a chance to check it out. Unfortunately it’s not yet available internationally, so not all of our members have access to Lower Decks at this time. I’d like to take the opportunity to remind everyone about our spoilers channels, specifically #spoilers-lowerdecks. Please keep discussions limited to that channel so as to not ruin the experience for those who have not been able to watch.
We had three new sims join us in July. First off, we have Commander Zellea Arlidd in command of the Intrepid-class USS Ranger. Returning as COs, we have Commander Celia Rhodes of the Dauntless-class USS Mauretania and Captain James Warrington of the Ethereal-class Starbase 243. Welcome and welcome back to our newest commanding officers!
This past week marked the anniversary of two of our sims. Both the USS Vesta, under the command of Captain Aviram Drell, and the USS Poseidon, under the command of Captain Franklin Johnson, celebrated their one year anniversaries on August 1! Congratulations to both sims for a great first year, and here’s to many more to come!
This month we also have some updates from our Resources team. Updated specs have been released for the Sovereign-class starship for use everywhere. And for Division 74 we have the new Dauntless-class starship.
Finally I have an update that didn’t quite make it into last month’s report and meeting. In early July the PFA proposed a change to the Restricted Character Policy that was reviewed and approved by our commanding officers. The policy change added the following to the restricted list: Characters with physical appearance or behavioural traits dissimilar enough so as to cause confusion over the characters actual age. (ie: Adults that look like children or characters appearing childlike behave as adults). This change was made to protect against situations and characters that can lead to unfortunate implications. As a restricted character, a character falling into this category may potentially still be used. But it requires approval from the CO and the PFA. It is the responsibility of the commanding officer to submit the request, assuming that they were already comfortable with the character joining the sim. If anyone has any questions about this policy update, or have any characters that they have been considering that they feel should be reviewed, please do not hesitate to contact a member of the PFA.
This month’s meeting will be held in the #meeting channel on Discord this Sunday, August 9 at 3:00 pm EDT / 8:00 pm BST. The meeting is open to all members of Pegasus Fleet and any guests that may be interested in learning more about our community. The next meeting will be on Sunday, September 13.
