The Battle of... [Event List]

Post by Mike » Fri Dec 30, 2011 4:35 pm

I've been reading a fair few bios recently and have seen the same 'canon' battles appearing left, right and centre which isn't a bad thing but I thought it might be worth coming up with a few extra ones so that people can put them into their bios or reference them in their games should they feel the need or desire.

As usual, we'd like to hear your thoughts and feel free to add your own.

Event Name: The Battle of Megara
Event Type: Battle
Race(s) Involved: Federation, Dominion (Breen)
Date Occurred (Stardate & Calendar Date): 2375, SD: 52988

Event Details: When the Breen joined the Dominion war it was decided that the best way to announce their presence was to use the largely uncharted region of space which lay between Cardassian territory and the Tholian Assembly to attack the Federation at one of their weakest points. Cycling around the Talarian Republic, the Breen came face to face with elements of the 14th & 15th fleet in the Megara system and were repelled by Federation forces.

Outcome: Federation victory, part of the turning of the tide in the Dominion War.

Historical Legacy: Dominion War battle.

Event Name: The Battle of G'Thal
Event Type: Battle
Race(s) Involved: Klingon, Gorn
Date Occurred (Stardate & Calendar Date): 2376, SD: 53160

Event Details: With the Klingons, weakened by the Dominion War, having suffered the loss of a number of worlds along their border and the loss of many more ships to Gorn aggressors. With the Gorn actively seeking to expand their borders into Klingon space and with a number of protectorate worlds outside, they launched a number of attacks and engaged the Klingons in battle on no-less than 9 occasions. The current Klingon borders represent certain losses to the Gorn during late 2375 & 2376. The battle at G'Thal was one of the few that the Klingons managed to win and they drove the Gorn forces back, allowing reinforcements to effectively seal off the Klingon borders.

Outcome: The Klingons were victorious but it was only the threat of Federation intervention that prevented a full-scale war between the two factions.

Historical Legacy: There has been a great deal of tension between the Klingons and the Gorn in subsequent years with both sides occasionally incurring into the neutral space between their empires.

Event Name: Ferengi Faction Incursion
Event Type: Skirmish, Spacial Incursion
Race(s) Involved: Ferengi, Federation, Ferengi Pirate Factions
Date Occurred (Stardate & Calendar Date): 2385, SD: 51230

Event Details: During the years after the Dominion War, there was a lot of turmoil in the makeup of many governments who had a direct interest in the outcome of the war. With the ascension of Grand Nagus Rom a number of Ferengi 'families' went rogue and threatened to overthrow the Alliance at Irtok. While this was quickly put down by the efforts of the USS Carthage and her crew, the 'families' did their best to cause havok and disrupt relations between the alliance and the Federation, even going so far as to attack Nusakan, a Federation system on the Ferengi/Federation border.

Outcome: The Ferengi force of Marauders was rapidly beaten back by a small task group of ships from the 8th Fleet but tensions between Ferengi traders and the Federation tensed over the next few months and a number of trade sanctions were imposed by Grand Nagus Rom in an effort to flush out the members of the offending 'families'.

Historical Legacy: The incursion has worsened Federation/Ferengi borders in the neighbouring systems as the Ferengi 'pirates' attacked the planet of Nusakan directly, causing many casualties and looting before they were stopped. However, on a wider political scale, this incursion has had very little impact, given that the actions of these pirates were not sanctioned by the Ferengi Alliance themselves.

Event Name: The Invasion of Thane
Event Type: Hostile Incursion, Battle
Race(s) Involved: Federation (SB332 Expeditionary Force, USS Vesta), Sojourners
Date Occurred: 2388, Current Timeframe

Event Details: Starbase 332's resident Private Investigator came to the fleet with intelligence on a mooted attack on Federation territory by the Ritorian Confederacy in the Thane system. When the crew of 332 was assigned to investigate and repel the attack, it was discovered that the planned attack was not the work of the Ritorian Confederacy at all and was actually an act being carried out by a group calling themselves The Sojourners.

Apparently a radical offshoot of the Vinarian Syndicate, The Sojourners were in negotiations with the government of Thane to open trade routes and 'put them back on the map' as a trade and commerce centre. Upon their arrival in the Thane system and after a short period of discussion with the Commanding Officer in charge of the Expeditionary Force, the Regent of Thane and the Warlord Head of The Sojourners (referring to herself as Vaishaa), the Starfleet force was fired upon by the assembled might of The Sojourners' force, a cobbled together group of reclaimed starships from the Galactic Salvage Yard to the North.

Outcome: The force of assembled vessels greatly outnumbered the vessels that the Starfleet force had at its disposal and quickly overwhelmed the Federation group. Just as the odds seemed to have turned against them, the USS Vesta arrived on the scene to provide tactical assistance and bought the Expeditionary Force enough time to jump to warp and limp back to 332.

Historical Legacy: The level of resistance and the willingness of the Thane Government to submit to The Sojourners (or the Ritorians in the first instance) had not been accounted for at Pegasus Fleet headquarters at Cestus III. The Thane Government later submitted formal motions to remove itself from the protectorate agreement and work with The Sojourners. With little choice in the matter, Starfleet was forced to accept the motion and allow The Sojourners a valuable foothold in the area.
