You referred to cavern leaders in one sentence but did not describe them elsewhere that I saw. Did i miss the original reference to that "rank"

That sounds like a good mission. However, these people are part of the Federation. They just aren't part of Starfleet. But discovering an Am Tal agent among your crew...that would be an interesting mission...
