Non-Standard Races as Crew

Several friends from another fleet are considering bringing their characters over as a ship that they were playing on in that fleet has closed. Two of them are playing non-established races. Do they need to do anything special in order to be able to play them here or is it based solely on the discretion of the GM?

GM discretion, so long as the character isn't against the allowed characters policy on the wiki (holograms, androids, Q, and such)
