[USS Kumiho] "In The Line Of Fire"

USS Kumiho is dispatched to observe and monitor the 'south-eastern' edges of Task Force 11's area of operations in anticipation of increased tensions with the Gorn. Her duties are to include setting up several surveilence stations along the 'unguarded' border as well as monitor pirate activity in the area in case said privateers may be cooperating with the Gorn.
During deployment of the 'sensor buoy' network, intended to passively monitor activity in the sector, Kumiho's shuttles were attacked by privateers. In responding to the emergency Kumiho suffered heavy damage when numerous tactical systems experienced cascading failures in their power supply, most likely caused by age and a ship not designed for the demands of heavy engagement. While Kumiho managed to disperse the pirate vessels the ship was unable to continue the mission and began making way for Starbase 223.
